Xpass Might Replace Two of My Subscriptions, If It Exists

A leaked X, Grok and Cursor bundle called Xpass could replace two things I already pay for. If it's real, I want to see whether it lets me drop Claude and Codex to $20 a month.

Everything below is a rumor. Nothing here is announced, I haven’t tried any of it, and I’m working from a leaked price list like a man reading tea leaves. Keep that in mind, because I’m about to do some confident-sounding arithmetic on numbers that might be bullshit.

The rumor is a single plan called Xpass that folds X, Grok, Cursor and Grok Bot into one subscription. Four tiers:

  • Premium, $8: Grok Lite plus X Premium, a shared quota, Cursor included, and Grok API access.
  • Plus, $30: SuperGrok plus X Premium+, 4x the Premium usage, Grok Bot, Cursor cloud agents and Bugbot.
  • Super, $100: SuperGrok Plus and X Premium+, 15x Premium usage, 1080p, faster replies and priority access.
  • Ultra, $200: SuperGrok Heavy and X Premium+, 50x Premium usage, the fastest replies and the earliest access.

There’s also a launch promo in the rumor, 50% off the first month, dated October 9. I don’t know if that’s the launch date or the promo’s deadline, and the leak doesn’t say.

The multipliers are the part I trust least. The 4x, 15x and 50x usage figures are explicitly unconfirmed, and “4x of a shared quota I can’t see” isn’t a number so much as a mood.

Why a rumor has my attention this time

Normally I’d read a leak like this, shrug, and go back to being annoyed at something else. This one lands differently because I’m already paying for two of the things in the bundle.

Right now I spend $30 a month on SuperGrok and another $8 a month on X. That’s $38 for the two. The rumored Plus tier is $30 and lists SuperGrok and X Premium+ together. If that’s real, it would cover what I already pay for, cost me $8 less, and throw in Cursor cloud agents, Bugbot and Grok Bot on top. I’m seriously considering the move. Not because I’m excited about a social network, but because paying less for the same stuff plus extras is a very easy sentence to like.

The catch is the word “if.” I haven’t seen anything official, and I’m not paying for a leaked screenshot.

The math that made me look twice

If the multipliers are real, the price per unit of usage falls fast as you climb. Premium works out to $8 per unit. Plus is $7.50 (30 divided by 4). Super is about $6.67. Ultra is $4 flat. The $200 tier is the same usage as fifty $8 plans, except it costs half of what fifty $8 plans would. So the rumored pricing leans hard on “buy the big one.” Nobody has confirmed any of it, so take that with salt.

The other thing I noticed is that Cursor is baked into the cheapest tier. Cursor is a coding tool I’d normally think of as its own separate bill. Under this rumor it becomes a line item inside a bundle that also contains a social network. That’s a strange sentence to type, but here we are.

The part where I get irritated about limits

Here’s why I’m even looking at other AI spending. I’m on the $100 plan for Claude and the $100 plan for Codex. That’s $200 a month on those two alone, and I still usually hit my weekly limit on both of them. Not occasionally. Usually.

Let that sink in. Two hundred dollars a month, and I run out of week before I run out of week.

And Claude still has a 5 hour session limit on top of the weekly one. I’m genuinely pissed about that. I’m paying a hundred fucking dollars a month, and the thing can still cut me off mid-task because I’ve used up some arbitrary window of the afternoon. A weekly cap I can at least plan around, because it’s a budget. A 5 hour cap is a leash. It doesn’t care that I’m in the middle of something, it just decides I’m done for a while.

So I can’t just downgrade Claude and Codex as things stand. A cheaper plan would hit the ceiling even sooner, and I’d be the idiot who saved money by having less. What I’m seriously considering is the other direction: if Xpass exists and the Grok side turns out to be any good, work out how to reshape my workflow around it so Claude and Codex can each drop down to $20 a month. That’s a huge cut from $100, and it only works if Grok and Cursor take real load off the two I’m currently maxing out. I haven’t worked out which jobs would move. That’s a question for after the thing proves it exists.

What I don’t know

I don’t know whether Cursor cloud agents and Bugbot are any good. I don’t know whether Grok can carry any meaningful share of what Claude and Codex do for me today. I don’t know whether the usage limits on Xpass are more generous than what I’m already fighting with, and the rumor only talks in multipliers of a quota nobody has shown me, so there’s clearly a limit in there somewhere. I haven’t run a single token through any of this, and I’m not going to pretend I have.

What I do know is the arithmetic on the part I already pay for. $38 now, $30 if Plus shows up as described. That alone is enough to make me look, and the chance of getting two $100 plans down to $20 is enough to make me think hard about my workflow.

October 9 is five days away. I’ll find out whether any of this is real around the same time you do, and until then my subscriptions stay exactly where they are.
